The Momma’s Netflix Watch List

TV Series That You Can Binge Till The End:

Lost

“The survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 were 1,000 miles off course when they crashed on a lush, mysterious island. Each person possesses a shocking secret, but they’ve got nothing on the island itself, which harbors a monstrous security system, a series of underground bunkers and a group of violent survivalists hidden in the shadows.”

This show is a great one to watch with the spouse when the kids go to bed. It is exciting and makes you want more. We would stay up until 2 am because we couldn’t get enough of it and when the series was over, it was heartbreaking. This show makes you put yourself in the character shoes and wonder what you would do in their situation, with twists when you least expect it.

Gilmore Girls

“Set in a storybook Connecticut town populated by an eclectic mix of dreamers, artists and everyday folk, this multigenerational drama about family and friendship centers around Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter, Rory. Lorelai owns the town’s bed-and-breakfast, the Dragonfly Inn, with best friend/chef Sookie, and contends with weekly dinners with eccentric, well-off parents Richard and Emily Gilmore (who always have something to say about their daughter’s life). After high school, Rory attends Yale University but frequently returns to Stars Hollow to visit her mom.”

Gilmore Girls is a great feel good tv show for women of all ages! There is love and heartache and has a great story bond between a daughter and her mother.

Heart of Dixie

“New York doctor Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) has reached a crossroads in her life when she decides to accept an offer from a stranger to work with him at his practice in Alabama. When she arrives in town, she discovers that the man has died and left her his half of the practice in his will, something that doesn’t exactly make her new partner happy. Despite the shock of Southern life and some less-than-hospitable town folk, Zoe decides to give her new life a chance and discovers a new side of herself in the process.”

If you love the southern stereotype, this one is for you. Southern accents, big hair, and grits make this is a great southern tv show with a small town feel. This tv show is only 4 seasons long and is a quick watch.

Vampire Diaries

“The vampire brothers Damon and Stefan Salvatore, eternal adolescents, having been leading “normal” lives, hiding their bloodthirsty condition, for centuries, moving on before their non-aging is noticed. They are back in the Virginia town where they became vampires. Stefan is noble, denying himself blood to avoid killing, and tries to control his evil brother Damon, who promised to Stefan an eternity of misery. Stefan falls in love with schoolgirl Elena, who has an uncanny resemblance to the Salvatore brothers old love, Katherine; and whose best friend Bonnie is a witch.”

My husband actually got me on this one. It is definitely for the younger audience since it takes place while the characters are mostly in high school and college, but I loved it. It is pretty bloody and not for the weak stomach being that killing people is second nature in this show. You definitely will want to sit down and watch this one because if you miss a detail, you can get lost.

TV Series That Are Still On TV:

Grey’s Anatomy

“The medical drama series focuses on a group of doctors at a hospital in Seattle, including several who began their careers at the facility as interns. One of the doctors and the show’s namesake, Meredith Grey, is the daughter of a famous surgeon. She struggles to maintain relationships with her colleagues, particularly the hospital’s one-time chief of surgery, Richard Webber, due to a pre-existing relationship between them — Webber and Meredith’s mother had a personal relationship when Meredith was young.”

HOLY COW this is my FAVORITE tv show EVER!!!! You grow to love the character and it breaks your heart if they die. You will laugh and cry…even sometimes yell at the tv. I just don’t know how else to explain it. Just watch it.

Once Upon A Time

“Once Upon a Time” tells the story of a new world, one in which fairy-tale legends and modern life collide. Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) is comfortable in her life as a bail bonds collector when Henry — the child she gave up a decade earlier — suddenly shows up. He is convinced that she is the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, who sent her away before the Evil Queen could cast a spell, freezing the fairytale world in time and bringing them to present-day Storybrooke, Maine. After taking Henry home, Emma decides to stay in the town to keep an eye on him, and she discovers he may not be wrong after all.”

If you loved fairy tales growing up, you will love this series. This show makes your favorite character come to life beyond the traditional story. This one is a great one that is appropriate to watch with the whole family.
